Jewelry Trends Summer 2006
Necklaces: Big long necklaces made of organic materials are hot this summer. Organic materials consist of everything from kukui nut beads to onyx or bone. Chunky wooden beads are still a focus this summer. The beads can either be brightly colored or covered in fabric or mixed with ribbons, strings, cords, and even pieces of metal chain. Crocheted necklaces are also a must have item this season, along with necklaces displaying fringe or tassels. If organic material and wooden beads are just not your thing, try layering gold chains of different sizes and finishes.
Bracelets: Bracelets take a backseat to necklaces this season but they are in no way out of the picture. Bangles are still a hot item. Whether they are chunky and fun or simply layered they will be the perfect complement to any outfit. Charm bracelets are also a hot item this summer especially those that contain murano glass or natural gemstones.
Earrings: Linear or fringy styles are the main focus of this summer. Geometrics, loops, and chains are now replacing the previous East India style. Also chandelier designs are hot as ever!
Rings: Ring are the next hottest item to necklaces this summer. When it comes to rings this season however, the bolder the better. Rings with big faceted gemstones were a designer’s favorite this year, along with solitaire rings with huge center stones. Also look for rings that have wide bands of metal, or striking beaded fringes and pom-poms. An extremely thick band with many small stones set on pave settings is another popular style.
